The Sprint Galaxy S III has hit the annual Amazon Wireless holiday sale, and retails for approximately $49 on contract in the 16 GB model. That is the same Galaxy S III which roared out of the starting gate with a worldwide 20 million units sold in only its first 100 days of sales availability. Now officially delivering the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, wrapped with the Samsung TouchWiz UX UI, the handset delivers a large high-resolution screen and a wafer thin profile.

Measuring 5.38 x 2.78 x 0.34 inches (136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm), the Sprint Galaxy S III is slim when compared to all other smartphones. Also light in comparison at 4.70 ounces (133 g), the Galaxy S III nonetheless delivers one of the largest high resolution screens found on any smartphone. Protected by a scratch resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2, the 4.80 inch display delivers a high-end pixel density, displaying more than 16 million different colors at a rate of 306 pixels per inch.
The Super AMOLED screen delivers an overall resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, and the standard multitouch, capacitive gestures you are used to using on your current smartphone are supported. Talk time runs from 9.0 to 12.0 hours after a single charge of its 2,100 mA battery, and the Sprint Galaxy S III delivers popular applications Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Picasa out-of-the-box. The handset also offers Near Field Communications (NFC) support for applications like Android S Beam, which allows for wireless data transfer.
Video out options to an external HDTV or monitor are present, and the handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip set. The Sprint Galaxy S III delivers twice the average system memory of the typical smartphone and 2.0 GB of RAM, and the most built-in storage offered out-of-the-box at 32 GB. A dual core 1.5 GHz central processor and Adreno 225 graphics specific chip are on board, and a microSD slot is provided for storage expansion, supporting external data cards up to 64 GB in size.
The built-in music player comes with both customizable and preset equalizers, and the 1.9 megapixel chat cam on the front of the handset can be used for taking snapshots and also placing and receiving video calls. Built into the back of the Sprint Galaxy S III is a high resolution 8.0 megapixel camcorder with LED flash and CMOS image sensor. That rear snapper is capable of simultaneously grabbing snapshots while recording high definition video, and video is captured at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080p HD resolution) and at a rate of 30 frames per second.
