The brand-new Sprint 4G LTE network in the United States is going to be the home of the new big screen LG Optimus G Android smartphone. The handset delivers the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 Android OS out-of-the-box, adds double the normal amount of RAM memory found on a 4G handset, delivers one of the highest screen resolutions of any smartphone, and adds a couple of battery conservation features. The launch date was just a few days ago, November 11, and the sleek black chassis the handset owns is a nice departure from the standard Android look.
Google’s Chrome web browser, Car Home, Gmail, Google Maps with Navigation, Search, and Shopper are all on board, and the preloaded Google Play store makes shopping for books, magazines, movies, TV and music simple. The handset also has an optional “power saver” feature that shuts down battery sapping applications as soon as your battery falls below 30%. You can also operate in standard (quad core) or eco (dual core) modes, depending on your battery needs.
For you movie and video lovers who will would like to send an e-mail, text message or surf the web while watching, you can now do that with the QSlide function. The LG Optimus UI version 3.0 Android overlay is also on board, and accepts standard multitouch, capacitive gestures. Measuring 5.19 x 2.71 x 0.33 inches (131.9 x 68.9 x 8.45 mm) and weighing 5.11 ounces (145 g), the LG Optimus G is not as big or wide as the Galaxy S III, while still delivering one of the largest displays of any smartphone.
That 4.70 inch True HD IPS+ Touch Hybrid Display delivers one of the highest pixel densities of any handset at 318 pixels per inch, giving it an extremely high screen resolution, at 1,280 x 768 pixels (WXGA). Using your phone in extreme brightness and at extreme viewing angles is made easier by the Zerogap Touch technology, which appears for the first time on an LG smartphone. A protective layer of scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass overlays the display.
Talk time on the LG Optimus G 4G is much better than the average 4G smartphone, at 13.00 hours from a single battery charge, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 microchip package powers the handset. An Adreno 320 GPU focuses exclusively on handling all graphics requests, and the LG Optimus G is one of the first smartphones in the US to deliver a quad core processor, a Krait model clocked at 1.5 GHz. A full 2.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, as well as the most out-of-the-box, built-in data storage at 32 GB.
The 13.0 megapixel camcorder on the back of the LG Optimus G handset delivers voice activation, smile and face detection, digital zoom, white balance presets, autofocus and a special effects package, recording video in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080p HD). A front facing chat cam is also on board, the built-in music player filters by album, artist or play list, and a YouTube video player has been pre-installed. Near Field Communications (NFC) wireless technology is present out-of-the-box, as is DLNA video-out functionality.
You can buy the just released LG Optimus G for a reduced price tag now starting at 149.99.
