The latest version of the new Surface RT tablet is going to be called the Surface 2 according to recent reports coming from Microsoft. The new Surface 2 will be replacing the RT, but will be running the Windows RT software, will feature the latest Tegra processor and a couple of other improvements on the hardware packed inside the tablet. If you get a look at the new Surface 2, you will see that it is very similar to the Surface RT that shipped to users about one year ago. The weight, overall thickness and the VaporMg casing will be exactly the same as they were with the original model.
There will be one noticeable difference from the Surface RT to the Surface 2 and that is the fact that the tablet will be shipping in white with an adjustable kickstand, which is also reportedly coming with the Surface Pro 2. Coming from the inside of the Surface RT, the Surface 2 will have completely new internal hardware like an upgraded Tegra processor and it will also feature a 10.6-inch touch screen display with full 1080p HD resolution according to reports.
The new Tegra processor will be the Tegra 4 and that will be paired up with 4GB of RAM, which will boost the overall performance a few clicks compared to the older Surface models currently on the market. The new processor and large amount of RAM should take care of the main complaint that came from those that bought and reviewed the new Surface tablets for the first time last year. The RAM and new processor will also give Microsoft an edge in the very tight competition that makes up the tablet market which is really still dominated by just about anything that comes from an Apple store.
Now that Apple is about to release the new iPad Mini 2 and the iPad 5, it is a good time for Microsoft to get things together and release a new tablet for loyal Microsoft customers to check out. A couple of things that were left from the initial report included whether the new device will be coming with a new front facing or backside camera. Two things that users can expect this time around include the USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 4.0 support, which was not included with the original Surface RT.
