It might sound like a new car deal, but it looks like T-Mobile is looking to make waves in the mobile market by offering the brand new iPad Air with free data for life and zero money down. Starting on November 1st, most of the country will finally be able to get its hands on the iPad Air and if you are on the T-Mobile network, recently announced free data for life option will apply. T-Mobile will be offering the iPad Air and iPad Mini 2 with Retina display for $0 down and monthly payments.
The discounted money down is only for a limited time on the network, but the free data plan is for the life of your time on the T-Mobile network. The new iPad Air comes with 32GB and 64GB option on the network, but the one that qualifies for the $0 is the 32GB option. If you want more storage you can get the 64GB model for just $99 down. T-Mobile will not be selling the 128GB option according to initial reports, that model will have to be bought via Apple. The monthly payments for the iPad Air would amount to just $26.25, which is like paying $630 for the new tablet.
The iPad Mini 2 payments would be $22.08 for 24 months, while the older iPad Mini can still be picked up for just $17.91 per month for 24 months. The free data plan that T-Mobile announced last week includes just 200MB of data per month at no cost to you and that is on the 4G LTE network. It might not seem like a lot of data, but if you are connected to a Wi-Fi network 75-80 percent of the time, it should be enough for the times you are away from a network.
CEO of T-Mobile, John Legere said, “When you buy a product as amazing as iPad, you should be able to connect when and where you want, simply and affordably. By offering free data for life with incredible upfront pricing, T-Mobile is un-leashing customers to fully enjoy iPad as it was meant to be enjoyed – mobile and connected.” If you want more data, you can get 500MB for just $10 per month if you are on a T-Mobile voice plan and add another 2GB for $10 more.

The data isn’t totally free if you’re not a tmo customer. You have to pay $10 a month for the option to add more data. If you’re a customer you get the $10 credited back to your account.

Looks like they lied! Looks like there is an additional $10 monthly ON DEMAND data charge.

The free 200MB is not for life. I just activated the plan and received an email saying that plan is good until 12/01/2013!
I’m returning the T-Mbile version of the iPad air and getting the ATT version instead. Don’t like to be misled!
