Luxembourg is finally getting 4G services, thanks to Tango, a subsidiary of the Belgian telecommunications giant Belgacom. The telecom provider will be offering 4G mobile broadband services and also personal mobile data service plans for its users. Nokia Siemens Network is supporting the fledgling network through its technology and providing efficient solutions. Interestingly, Tango was also the first company to offer UMTS (3G), ADSL and HSDPA (3.5G) services to Luxembourg customers.

Didier Rouma, CEO of Tango, recently proudly stated that the company has launched two services that are a first for Luxembourg – 4G ultra-fast data and personalized data tariffs in addition to providing congestion-free services from existing GSM and 3G networks. He also thanked Nokia Siemens Networks for helping Tango achieve those important goals. Nokia Siemens Networks’ Liquid Core network and Circuit Switched FallBack (CSFB) system are involved in the launch of the 4G LTE service. The company has also implemented subscriber data management, which allows Tango to provide Luxembourg’s first personalized data tariffs.

The head of the customer team at Nokia Siemens Networks, Filip Rommelaere stated that in addition to implementing its Liquid Core network, the company has also implemented subscriber data management system for Tango. He continued by saying that without differentiating between data services, as it becomes difficult for operators to efficiently manage the growth in network traffic, Nokia Siemens Network’s packet core network platform and subscriber data management solution has helped Tango efficiently manage data traffic and offer customers greater choice in terms of the service they receive.

The Liquid Core-based Evolved Packet Core (EPC) platform includes Flexi NS (Network Server) and Flexi NG (Network Gateway) and allows operators to replace the outdated equipment and launch the services. Apart from providing Mobile SoftSwitching (MSS) that manages traditional voice calls, Nokia Siemens Networks has also implemented its CSFB voice solution. This allows 4G enabled users to fallback to GSM and 3G networks from LTE and can enjoy voice calls alongside text messaging (SMS) at superfast speeds.

Nokia Siemens Network was able to achieve this with its unique 4D scaling that expanded the packet core network capacity of the existing GSM and 3G network, thereby allowing Tango to accommodate the soaring data traffic and provide congestion-free data services. This ensures that the quality of service always remains the best and also helps the operator lower its hardware requirements.
