With a huge screen, a fast processor and the typical slab look, the HTC Eternity could be mistaken for a small tablet. But with features like these, who needs a tablet ?
With a name like Eternity how could you go wrong ? The upcoming HTC Eternity is designed for those who are enjoying the current mobile revolution. It is large and in charge with a 4.7 inch screen. The display is not your average low-technology LCD. This large display is made with a WVGA ( 800 by 480 pixels ) Super LCD. Movies, web pages and video are going to be less of a squint, thanks to the large size and extra clarity of this smartphone.
Backing up the large display is a powerful 1.5 gigahertz processor. It is not a dual core model. The particular chip is chosen to run Windows Phone 7 in the Mango version. The big panels are going to be popping out at users with Mango. “Movie Mode” in high definition is also going to be playing. Movie Mode is shown in the lower 720p high definition format. Helping the processor will be an 512 megabytes of RAM, which is average for many smartphones of this stature. The available internal memory will be rated for 16 gigabytes with a MicroSD slot expected but not affirmed.
The HTC Eternity has two cameras for video and photos. The front optics will be rated for 1.3 megapixels but the rear camera will handle eight megapixels of picture taking power. This is plenty of juice for taking high definition video or photos. The front camera can be used for video conferencing. The Eternity comes equipped with dual LED flash and auto focus.
One of the areas that the HTC Eternity smartphone will shine in is wireless. It comes with Wi-Fi in all the modes. It is backwards compatible to the “B” mode. It comes with bluetooth, but not in the most modern version. DLNA ( Digital Living Network Alliance ) is featured to prevent the need of an HDMI cable. There is nothing to worry about if the user does not have home equipment up to DLNA standards, the smartphone still has an HDMI connector. HSPA+ is an unconfirmed feature in the wireless abilities of this smartphone. To top it all off, the Eternity will have a FM radio for listening to local programming.
This will be the first Windows Phone 7 smartphone announced for some months. HTC has been testing the waters with Microsoft’s new creation. The Mango update will need to be on this smartphone for the front camera to function. Otherwise, look for this large HTC smartphone to come to market sometime in the Fall for an as-yet unspecified price.
