nexus5bThe Sprint LG manufactured Google Nexus 5 recently got some good news in the form of a lowered price tag at Amazon. The handset is now within reach of practically any budget, but the lower price in no way reflects the ability of the phone. With one of the fastest central processors ever found on a mobile handset, an extremely high pixel density that leads to a Full HD designation, and excellent battery performance, the Google Nexus 5 is one of the most powerful smartphones ever designed.

Originally home to the then-exclusive Google Experience launcher, a name change has hit that launching platform. Big G reported that an update to Google Search was released on February 10, and along with that came that the new Google Now name for the updated launcher. This actually makes sense, because Google Now is built into the launching system and it is actually powered by Google Search. And while the Google Nexus 5 is still the exclusive home to the newly named Google Now launcher, it may in the future be released to other devices.

After uploading, you will be asked if you would like to import settings, icons and folders from your older stock launcher. The Nexus 5 is a collaboration between Google and LG, and was the first handset to deliver the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out-of-the-box, recently receiving an update to Android 4.4.2. The Nexus 5 was launched on October 31 in the US, and has been a good seller for Sprint ever since it debuted. Sporting a large Full HD display and a blazing CPU, the Google Nexus 5 also offers 2.0 GB of RAM memory, a main camera with optical image stabilization and Full HD video capture, and wraps it all up in a slim and lightweight body.

Measuring just 8.59 mm (0.34 inches) in thickness and weighing just 130 g (4.59 ounces), the versatile handset is slimmer and lighter than the typical smartphone. The display in question is an IPS LCD model, measuring 5.0 inches. Resolution runs 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, with more than 16 million colors painted across the screen at the rate of 445 pixels per inch. Corning has added a layer of scratch resistance with its third generation Gorilla Glass display overlay. A rear facing 8.0 megapixel snapper comes with a multishot burst mode, digital zoom and self timer, as well as multiple special effects and customization options.

Video is recorded in 1,080P HD resolution and 30 frames per second, with nighttime snapshot and video capture enhanced by a back illuminated sensor (BSI), LED flash and video light. The phone also offers auto and touch to focus and face detection, as well as an extra-wide panorama mode and high dynamic range mode (HDR). The Google Nexus 5 running on the Sprint 4G LTE network in the United States also delivers a front facing chat cam, a 2.3 GHz quad core central processor and 16 GB of onboard storage.
