What’s not to like in a Jelly Bean? It is crunchy, it is soft and it is sweet. Same is the case with Android’s latest update, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The newest version of the popular mobile operating system is promising as many users are readily taking to it. Despite the court’s ruling on Apple’s lawsuit against Samsung, and a possible ban on the most popular Samsung android phones, the number of users switching to Jelly bean is on a steady rise. Google introduced several new interesting updates in their latest edition making it by the best android available (well, that is the way it should be, isn’t it?).
One of the most remarkable features added is the Google voice search. Its functionality is way beyond the capacity of Siri or any other voice software and is definitely the best one available in the market now. The whole of the voice search experience in Jelly Bean has a new look and feel, and is way faster. And the best part of it all is that it does not require a working internet connection to do it. Google Now is a unifying service that combines all the information the smart phone knows about the user to provide it in the form of cards for the user’s convenience.
Despite all these impressive updates, the Project Butter is probably the one that takes the cake. This is an innovative initiative taken by Google to squeeze out the frequent lag problems with Android devices. The processor jets to full speed, whenever the screen is touched and it prioritizes input over background processes. The result is a silky-smooth buttery navigation. It is as if the phone knows where your fingers are going to move. Who knew people would take to the combination of butter and jelly beans so well?
Few other changes are expandable notifications and smarter widgets that readjust and resize themselves automatically. With the new OS, blind users can use the Gesture Mode to navigate the UI using touch and swipe gestures along with speech output. A very intelligent keyboard that predicts your next word and a camera app that lets you swipe to view photos, are some notable additions.
In all, the new Jelly Bean will satiate the hunger of all those android fan boys till its next major update. This is evident by the fact that the number of users switching to it is increasing by leaps and bounds. Remembering the fact that it is available only on 1.47% of the phones right now, it has witnessed a tremendous 1500% increase in its user base in the past two months and the number promises to rise.
