The True HD Samsung Galaxy Note II arrived in the mobile marketplace as the 4G phone with the largest display. Critics and industry analysts had predicted that the original Galaxy Note display was too large to be popular at 5.30 inches, and all that handset did was go on to become a flagship device for those wireless providers which offered it. The original Galaxy Note is still popular, and the Galaxy Note II arrived with an even larger screen, measuring 5.55 inches. That True HD display is part of a powerful but slim smartphone which is currently running the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Android operating system.
The Samsung Galaxy Note II is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $19.99.
The Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OS update was scheduled to hit in June, but has been delayed thanks to an improvement which is arriving in the Samsung TouchWiz Android overlay. It appears that some time in July Android 4.2.2 will hit the big-screen Galaxy Note II, delivering not only an improved Android operating system experience, but a less invasive and more intuitive Samsung TouchWiz user interface. The Galaxy Note II has been an excellent seller and popular phone since it arrived in November of last year in the US, and one of its more popular characteristics is the split screen Multi-Window feature.
You can effectively divide the large display into two smaller screens, and then use those screens independently. However, multitasking and enhanced productivity really takes place when you integrated the two displays, moving back and forth between them. The popular smart stylus S Pen is back once again from the original Galaxy Note, and thanks to user input stating that the Galaxy Note S Pen seemed a little too slim and small, the new S Pen is longer and thicker, giving it a more natural “pen like” experience.
Contextual awareness allows you hover the pen just above the display for previewing information, and as mentioned above, the phone is slim at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm). The large 5.55 inch True HD display on the Galaxy Note II is protected against scratching and chipping by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2, and has been designed in a 16 to 9 aspect ratio. Resolution runs high at 720 by 1,280 pixels, and capacitive multitouch gestures from your hand are supported as well as the smart stylus S Pen.
Up to 15.0 hours of conversations can be had from a single battery charge, and at the cornerstone of the Samsung Exynos 4 system-on-a-chip is a quad core 1.6 GHz CPU. The handset also offers a powerful quad core ARM Mali 400 MP4 graphics processor, a generous 2.0 GB of RAM memory, 16 GB of storage space and a microSD slot. The rear facing camera provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution and delivers an 8.0 megapixel lens, while the front facing camera can be used for video, Skype and chat calls.
The Samsung Galaxy Note II can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $19.99.
