The Verizon Wireless Galaxy Note II phablet was recently discovered select online retailers boasting a reduced retail price tag. The handset currently retails starting at just under $150 on contract, and delivers the largest 4G smartphone display at the present time. With a large 5.55 inch screen, Samsung began playing around with possible features that would make sense on that huge display. One application they gave the Galaxy Note II smartphone is the Multi-Window feature which enhances multitasking ability.
Basically, that large display is split into two windows which are simultaneously active. This allows you to carry out operations on each of the two windows, and can allow you to enjoy an HD movie on one while checking your e-mail, surfing the web or downloading an application on the other. That app supports the integrated smart stylus S Pen, which can be used on both windows while the Multi-Window application is running. And another new feature to arrive on the Galaxy Note II is a larger and thicker S Pen, which now feels more natural in your hand.
The Galaxy Note II is the first smartphone from Samsung Electronics to offer the Jelly Bean operating system out-of-the-box, and it launched on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network in the United States late last year. Jelly Bean 4.1 meshes with the Samsung TouchWiz UI Android overlay, accepting standard multitouch, capacitive gestures and input from the smart stylus S Pen. Though the handset has a huge display, it is still slim at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm).
However, that thin profile of the Galaxy Note II does not mean that the onboard battery is small in stature. The 3,100 mA extended life cell offers a full 15.0 hours of talk time from a single battery charge, nearly double the industry average of 8.0 hours. That big display is aligned in a 16 to 9 aspect ratio, perfect for True HD viewing, and resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels. That Super AMOLED display delivers more than 16 million colors, and is protected with a layer of scratch resistant glass.
The Samsung Galaxy Note II offers NFC wireless support out-of-the-box, and comes equipped with a Stereo FM radio with RDS, YouTube video player and built-in music player in its multimedia package. A quad core GPU joins a quad core 1.6 GHz CPU in the hardware package, which also delivers 2.0 GB of RAM system memory and 16 GB of onboard storage. A microSD slot has been provided for storage expansion and off-board data access, and the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder on the Galaxy Note II is capable of 1,080P HD resolution video recording.
