As of the moment, the HTC One X remains as one of the most powerful handsets currently available in the market. After all, not only does it pack a quad-core processor in its internals but the handset also has the distinction of being the first handset in the world to pack a quad-core processor under the hood. This dates back to late last year when we still know the handset by its HTC Edge code name. During that time, other OEMs are still in the early stages of their development for a quad-core handset but HTC already one-upped everybody when news about the existence of the HTC Edge got leaked out.

The HTC Edge code name did not stick though and several name changes later, we have come to meet the handset as the HTC One X when it was announced at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona back in February. The handset also made its way to US shores via AT&T where the carrier released it as the HTC One X. Since hitting US shelves, the handset easily became one of the best-selling devices over at the carrier and this did not come as a surprise given the impressive components and capabilities that the HTC One X brought to the table.

Released with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its operating system back in May, the HTC One X is now just waiting for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update which happens to be the latest iteration of the Google mobile operating system. This version was unveiled a little over a month ago at Google I/O and right after the announcement, the Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer immediately confirmed that the HTC One X is one of its first devices to get cranked up to Jelly Bean.

Sad to say, there was no mention of a specific timeframe when we can expect the official Jelly Bean update to land on the HTC One X 4G. There are speculations however that the official update can’t be too far away judging from the number of leaked JB builds that have recently surfaced. In fact, another Jelly Bean ROM has found its way to the internet. This particular JB ROM has a build of 3.00.999.7 and weighs in at a whopping 641 MB. However, the person who posted the leaked build is quick to caution that the Jelly Bean ROM is highly unstable and should only be used for testing purposes and not as a daily driver.

According to the poster, the 999 ID on the build number of the Jelly Bean ROM identifies it as a test only build and flashing it onto your handset could lead to unpleasant surprises. However, the interesting part is that this particular build comes with HTC Sense 4.5 in tow. Does this mean that the Sense UI version of the HTC One X will get cranked up to 4.5 once it gets officially upgraded to Jelly Bean? We can only guess at this point in time but we will definitely let you know as soon as more details become available.
