When talking about personalization and customization in the smartphone market, the first thing that comes to mind is the Android ecosystem. With the relative openness of the platform, it is easy for one with enough technical know-how and a lot of guts to unlock all the personalization and customization options offered by the platform. This is not to say that other platforms don’t offer these – in fact, they do, it’s just that it is not as widespread compared to the Android platform.
The Nokia Lumia 920 is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $19.99.
Take the case of the Windows Phone ecosystem for example. Nokia is now planning to add more customization options for its flagship device, the Nokia Lumia 920, and this can be found in the latest update of the handset’s display + touch application. With this app, users of the handset can control sunlight readability options and SuperSensitive Touch on the handset.
But with this new update, users get a third option on the app called “Lumia color profile”. This option enables users of the handset to make changes on the color appearances on the display of the handset using a slider. For example, a user can choose to select how “Vivid” or “Natural” the colors are by using the said slider. In addition to that, users can also adjust the color temperature from “Cool” to “Warm” using another slider. With this update, users of the handset can make changes on the appearance of the display of the Nokia Lumia 920 which was back then limited only to changing the display’s brightness.
This Lumia Color Profile options come with version 1.5.0.20 of the display + touch app but users of the Nokia Lumia 920 have so far failed to locate this option. Apparently, this option isn’t available yet at the moment but is said to be “unlocked” once the new firmware update gets rolled out to the handset. This “unlocking” of certain features of the handset is nothing new and we have Wi-Fi Hotspot feature of the device which only got unlocked after a firmware update as the best example.
The big question now though is as to when this new firmware will get rolled out to the device. Though the firmware has already been discovered in the servers of the Finnish manufacturer, no specific timeframe has been announced so far but once more information is available, you will be the first to know.
Going back to the Nokia Lumia 920, the handset boasts of impressive components under the hood. Its circuitry is built around a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset which comes with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM which work together in delivering the computing power needed by the handset. The storage space onboard the device is generous at 32GB but this is all you got because memory expansion is not supported on the Nokia Lumia 920. Display-wise, the handset sports a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ IPS LCD panel with a 1280 x 768 resolution while its camera department features a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP video call and self-portrait snapper.
You can purchase the Nokia Lumia 920 at a discounted price tag now starting at $19.99.
