HTC Evo 4G LTE: In today’s smartphone world specifically the Android ecosystem, the latest iteration of the Google mobile operating system is Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. However, due to the relative newness of this version, only a handful of devices (Google developer devices for that matter) have so far gotten a taste of it. Most of the handset currently available in the market though are waiting to get upgraded to its predecessor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which was released back in July at Google I/O.

Although the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has been rolled out to several high-end devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S III and the HTC One X (and was shipped with newer devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note II and HTC One X+), several very capable devices are still waiting to get cranked up to this version of the Android operating system. And indeed it is very frustrating to read about all the goodies and treats associated with Jelly Bean and having a more than capable handset that can run Android 4.1 with no issues at all and yet are still waiting for the update to hit your device for the longest time.

This has been the ongoing sentiment felt by the countless Sprint subscribers rocking the HTC EVO 4G LTE for their mobile weapon of choice. However, word on the street is that the interminable waiting for the update to finally land on the HTC EVO 4G LTE is about to draw to a close. The source of the speculation is a leaked screenshot of an internal Sprint system showing the Sprint Playbook. According to the information gleaned from the said Playbook (not the Blackberry tablet, mind you), the HTC EVO 4G LTE is about to get treated to an update by December 13.

Further details on the leaked screenshot intimate that the update which will crank up the software version of the HTC EVO 4G LTE to version 3.15.651.16 will bring Android 4.1 Jelly Bean along with a HTC Sense 4+ to the device. The only caveat here is that the Sprint Playbook is not exactly known for being accurate for its information and if in case this does not pan out, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time for that matter. The only thing we are sure of is that once Jelly Bean finally lands on the HTC EVO 4G LTE, it will become, better, faster and stronger.

As for the HTC EVO 4G LTE, the handset is powered by a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset which brings into play a dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM. Storage space on the handset comes up to 16GB but this is still expandable by using the microSD card slot of the device. In terms of its display, the HTC EVO 4G LTE comes with a 4.7-inch SuperIPS LCD2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its dual-shooter configuration boasts of a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
