Nokia Lumia 920: When talking about handsets in the market, there is no such thing as a perfect smartphone. Regardless of how powerful or impressive its components are under the hood, there will always be a time when issues will start coming up and hamper the performance of the device. This is what updates are for – to get these bugs taken care of and in the process improve the stability and performance of the device. In the case of the Windows Phone ecosystem, we saw the first update for Windows Phone 8, the latest iteration of the Microsoft mobile operating system, get released a couple of weeks back and land on the HTC Windows Phone 8X.
The Nokia Lumia 920 is available for a reduced holiday price ≥÷…now starting at $99.99.
For the uninitiated, the HTC Windows Phone 8X is the current flagship device of the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer for the Windows Phone platform and is a direct competitor of the Nokia Lumia 920, the top tier handset for the Finnish company. Since the update has first made its way to the HTC Windows Phone 8X, users of the Nokia Lumia 920 are now getting increasingly antsy as to when the update will make its way to their respective devices.
Come to think of it, the apprehension felt by Nokia Lumia 920 users is valid in this case. After all, users of the HTC Windows Phone 8X no longer had to contend with issues specific to WP 8 such as the random restart problems reported from way back. As for users of the Nokia Lumia 920, it looks like their wait for the update is not about to drag on. As it stands, Nokia US has already confirmed that the update will be coming this year with the announcement going over social network Twitter.
No specific date was mentioned on Nokia US’ tweet as to when the update can be expected to hit the Nokia Lumia 920 but we hope that this gets rolled out to the handset as soon as possible because the patience of the users of the device is already being tested with all the annoying bugs that hamper its performance. Rest assured though that once this update is applied on the Nokia Lumia 920 4G, you can already say goodbye to these issues and say hello to new features that include keeping Wi-Fi alive and the capability to reject calls with an SMS message.
As for the Nokia Lumia 920, the handset reached official status when it was announced back in September but the handset only made it to shelves in November. Under the hood, the operation of the handset is powered by a QualComm MSM8960 Snapdragon chipset which comes with a dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM. The storage space onboard the handset is pegged at a very generous 32GB while its display is a 4.5-inch IPS TFT capacitive multitouch panel with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. Its camera department on the other hand consists of a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
You can purchase the Nokia Lumia 920 for a discounted price now starting at $99.99.
