Back when Sprint was about to launch its LTE network last year, it added the HTC EVO 4G LTE to its lineup of Android-powered smartphones as part of its LTE handset base. The smartphone was one of the more capable devices to be offered by Sprint and it gained infamy when it got held up at the US Customs while the International Trade Commission subjected it to a thorough review after Apple’s lawsuit claiming the HTC high-end device infringed on some of its patents. It is a good thing that Google and HTC were able to step in quickly during that time to rectify things by revisiting the firmware of the HTC EVO 4G LTE and removing the infringing code – which in turn gave the handset the greenlight to continue on its journey to the shelves of the Now Network.
The HTC Evo 4G LTE is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $0.01.
Since then, the HTC EVO 4G LTE became one of the most popular handsets in the lineup of the Now Network. Not only did it support the LTE network of Sprint, it also has an NFC component in its chassis which enabled the Google Wallet feature on the handset. However, those are not the only good things going on for the HTC EVO 4G LTE at the moment. As it stands, Sprint is now rolling out a software update to the HTC EVO 4G LTE today though we still have no idea what goodies and treats this update brings to the device because its changelog is still unavailable as of the moment.
The update is rolling out via the usual OTA manner so be sure to be on the lookout for that notification that the update has already landed on your HTC EVO 4G LTE. Otherwise, you also have the option of checking for the update manually if you do not have the patience to wait for the notification to show up.
The update when applied to the HTC EVO 4G LTE is said to crank up the software version of the handset to version 3.16.651.3 and early adopters of the update attest to the fact that the update brought improvements to the proximity sensor of the handset. The camera shutter sound of the HTC EVO 4G LTE also got enhanced and voicemail looks like it also got some minor improvements. No confirmation of this as of yet coming from Sprint but once more details are available, we will definitely let you know.
As for the HTC EVO 4G LTE, the handset relies on its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset to power its operation with its dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 1GB of RAM. The storage space onboard the device is pegged at 16GB and in addition to that, the HTC EVO 4G LTE also comes with a dedicated microSD card slot for memory expansion purposes. Display-wise, the handset sports a 4.7-inch SuperIPS LCD 2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its camera department boasts of a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP video call and self-portrait snapper.
You can purchase the HTC Evo 4G LTE at a discounted price tag now starting at $0.01.
