US Cellular is the fifth largest mobile carrier in the United States, but that does not stop it from offering the latest, high end devices that the mobile world develops each year. US Cellular serves about 40 states throughout the Midwest and recently announced plans to start rolling out a 4G LTE network in major metro areas throughout the coverage area. According to a press release that was issued today by the company, there will be a new smartphone to choose from the next time you check out the website.
The new smartphone, or phablet, is the Galaxy Mega by Samsung. If you have been waiting around for a device that is as large as the Galaxy Note but isn’t one, you can get a good look at it on the US Cellular website starting tomorrow and the first thing that you might notice is the price tag that reads $149.99, with a two-year contract. The Samsung Galaxy Mega will also be ready to view in local retail outlets on the 19th of this month if you are not inclined to pick one up at the company’s website.
According to the price release, the Galaxy Mega will be supporting the 4G LTE network that US Cellular has just recently turned on, even though it is not available in all areas. Another thing to make note of is the fact that the Galaxy Mega will only be available in the Nova Black color at this time. US Cellular is the second major mobile carrier that is going to be offering the Galaxy Mega. Just last week, AT&T announced that it will also be selling the Mega for the same, $149.99 price. Samsung has already confirmed AT&T will be selling the device, but has not mention US Cellular up to this point.
When the Samsung Galaxy Mega was first talked about over one month ago, it was thought that it would compete with the Galaxy Note series from Samsung, but after looking at the internal specs and the features, it looks like many consumers would have to agree that is not going to be the case. The Samsung Galaxy Mega comes with a huge, 6.3-inch touch screen display with a 720p HD resolution, which is much larger than the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 for sure, but does not have the popular 1080p resolution.
