It looks like Verizon subscribers whose contracts are about to end will have a hard time making a decision as to what their next mobile weapon of choice will be. After all, the wireless provider has confirmed that it will add to its lineup several Windows Phone 8 devices. This is certainly great news for Windows fanboys but if you happen to prefer the Android ecosystem, you won’t get left out becase Verizon has already announced that a triumvirate of Motorola smartphones are headed its way and included in this is the Motorola Droid Razr HD.

As of the moment, the Motorola Droid Razr HD is now as official as it can get after its announcement at the On Display event in the Big Apple. The handset is everything that past rumors say and we are glad to finally come face to face with the new Motorola smartphone. Said to be the successor of the original wafer-thin Motorola Droid Razr, the Motorola Droid Razr HD is the attempt of Motorola to come up with a “big” device but only working on the dimensions of the original Droid Razr.

Despite packing a 4.7-inch display, the Motorola Droid Razr HD is almost similar in size to its predecessor. It has dimensions of 131.9 x 67.9 x 8.4 mm and it weighs in at 146 grams. In terms of its design and aesthetics, not much was changed from the original Droid Razr and the soft-touch Kevlar rear panel was carried over to the Motorola Droid Razr HD. The handset comes in an ergonomically-tapered shape that makes it sit comfortably in your hands. The Kevlar lining now extends to the side of the handset and a titanium-colored ring runs around the edges of the device. Once held in the hand, the Motorola Droid Razr HD gives off the impression of being a brick. That’s how solidly built it is. Although the handset is a bit bulky and hefty, it still gives off that air of sophistication and class and exudes that well-built quality.

Under the hood, the Motorola Droid Razr HD runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its operating system but the handset is slated to get cranked up to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean soon. In fact, Motorola even brought Motorola Droid Razr HD demo units already packing Jelly Bean to assure people that the latest iteration of the Google mobile operating system will land on the handset.

The Motorola Droid Razr HD has a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor in its internals and this CPU works hand in hand with a full gigabyte of RAM to ensure that the performance of the handset is always snappy and smooth. The storage space of the handset is pegged at 12GB but a user has the option of expanding this using the microSD card slot in the chassis of the device. In terms of its display, the Motorola Droid Razr HD packs a 4.7-inch SuperAMOLED panel with a1280 x 720 resolution while its camera department features a rear 8MP shooter and front 1.3MP snapper.
