Verizon has finally received the flagship Windows mobile handset it has been waiting for. What is basically a Nokia Lumia 920 recently hit the 4G LTE system on Verizon in the United States, and is named the Nokia Lumia 928. A 4G capable smartphone running Windows Phone 8, this device will definitely fill the need for those customers who wanted the Lumia 920 and were waiting for it to arrive on the fast and vast 4G LTE system of Verizon.
The Nokia Lumia 928 4G Black is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $0.01 – $599.99.
And while calling the phone basically a Lumia 920 is pretty accurate, the camera actually provides better features, the phone has a different display and design, and the microphone system has been enhanced as well. Excellent for its low light photography just like its 920 sibling, the Nokia Lumia 928 (so named because it is the 920 with Windows 8) is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual core Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon processor, and delivers 1.0 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage space.
The WXGA quality screen offers a resolution of 768 x 1,280 pixels, and the handset is capable of charging wirelessly. NFC support is on board, and the form factor makes the Nokia Lumia 928 a little bit smaller than the 920. The sides of the handset are now sharp and tapered, rather than delivering a curved-edge form like on the Lumia 920 and Lumia 800. And Nokia has improved the display to an OLED rather than IPS model, meaning that blacks are blacker and colors are more vibrant and crisp.
The Lumia 920 camera has been widely regarded by industry analysts and experts, and even though phones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 deliver higher megapixel counts, multiple “real world” tests show superior performance from the 920. And the Lumia 928 arguably offers an even better overall package. The camera delivers an 8.7 megapixel sensor to its rear facing camcorder, but adds a new xenon flash to the mix for low light. Most smartphone cameras use an LED flash, but xenon flashes are used in traditional pocket digital cameras.
The lens system on the Lumia 928 is more advanced, and this is easily the best smartphone camera on the Verizon network. Pandora, Hulu Plus, Tumblr, WhatsApp, TuneIn and Viber are all on board, and the Windows Phone mobile operating system recently hit the 100,000 application mark. The Nokia Lumia 928 4G running on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system was recently spotted with a discounted on-contract retail price tag at select online outlets.
