The HTC One has been one of the top three or four bestselling smartphones of 2013. The handset delivers the highest pixel density of any smartphone ever designed, while offering a large screen, Full HD resolution, excellent battery performance and an outstanding hardware package. Launching in the United States in late April, the HTC One glacial silver model offered by Verizon was recently spotted at Amazon with the bargain bin basement price tag of $49 on contract. Recently the HTC One was listed as one of a few handsets which would receive the Android 4.3 operating system update in September.
The Verizon HTC One can be purchased at a reduced sale price starting at $49.99.
That announcement came from HTC President Jason Mackenzie, who recently reiterated his company’s intentions for the HTC One Jelly Bean 4.3 update on Twitter. The premium metal unibody design on the glacial silver Verizon HTC One makes for a rugged handset, and the phone measures 5.41 x 2.69 x 0.37 inches (137.4 x 68.2 x 9.3 mm), weighing 5.04 ounces (143 g). UL Environment has blessed the parts and pieces used to build the HTC One, bestowing the handset its platinum certification as environmentally friendly throughout its life cycle.
Those of you with HD TVs and home theater systems, you can use the Verizon HTC One to control your TV, set-top box, and home theater, and the pre-programmed Sense TV application allows you access to television channel programming guides. HTC has also included their BlinkFeed app, which allows you to personalize your notifications and news to one central area. You can choose which social networking sites, news channels and feeds you want delivered, and they are streamed live to your phone’s home screen.
While HTC has had some success with previous models, the company wanted to improve in four major areas with the HTC One creation. The durable metal form factor mentioned above is one area where HTC successfully improved from previous phones, and the new simplified HTC Sense Android experience is another. Sound has been boosted by Beats Audio, and the Snapdragon 600 quad core processor delivers up to 40% more power than the popular Snapdragon S4 Pro. The culmination is a very capable and durable handset which could arguably be called the most powerful Android smartphone ever created.
The display runs 4.7 inches, with an extremely high pixel density of 468 ppi. That Full HD screen delivers a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, with the Super LCD3 display protected by a second generation layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. Up to 16.0 hours of talk time and 8.5 hours of video playback can be squeezed out of a full battery charge, 2.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, as is a full 32 GB built-in data storage space. The rear facing UltraPixel camcorder provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution, and delivers slow-motion video capture at 768 x 432 pixels. A front facing chat cam is also on board, and the phone has been built with dual front facing stereo speakers and a Stereo FM radio with RDS.
The Verizon HTC One can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99.
