Though Verizon is the undisputed king of the hill in terms of LTE coverage in US shores, the wireless provider has no plans of letting its competitors catch up to what it has already managed to achieve in the LTE arena in our side of the world. In fact, despite the massive lead it has over the likes of AT&T and Sprint in terms of LTE coverage, Verizon is seen to be pushing harder to widen that lead as much as it can. In fact, the wireless carrier just announced that it will undertake yet again an expansion of its LTE network and this is scheduled to happen on September 20.
The plans for its LTE expansion have been announced via its website and this announcement comes in the wake of Sprint’s plan of massive expansion which involves the addition of some 100 markets to its coverage. With the announcement, Verizon confirmed that not only will its LTE network get lit up in new markets but it will also expand and upgrade several currently existing ones as well.
The places about to see some LTE love from Verizon in the coming weeks are as follows:
- Rolla, MO
- Lawrence, KS
- Emporia, KS
- Coffeyville, KS
The three markets in Kansas have been confirmed to get LTE coverage by September 20 while Rolla, MO will get it in the coming weeks. However, if things go well, we are pretty sure that the Rolla market will also get LTE coverage on September 20 along with the three Kansas markets.
Aside from these new markets, Verizon also announced the expansion of two more markets which are:
- Kansas City, MO
- Hays, KS
In addition to that, the wireless provider also confirmed that areas in and around Pittsburgh, PA are expected to get improved 4G LTE service after the installation of a new cell site that will service the area has been completed.
Though we imagine that getting these additions and expansions on its LTE coverage happening on September 20 has something to do with the rumored September 21 release of the LTE-packing iPhone 5, users of the HTC Rezound 4G in the areas mentioned above will also get to enjoy the LTE service offered by Verizon. After all, the HTC handset is one of the premier LTE-capable handsets in the lineup of the carrier and is said to be one of the best handsets to be offered by Verizon by far.
As for the HTC Rezound 4G, the handset comes with a QualComm MSM8660 SnapDragon chipset in its internals which gives the device dual-core capabilities via its 1.5 Ghz Scorpion processor and full gigabyte of RAM. Storage space on the handset comes up to 16GB but the HTC Rezound 4G comes preinstalled with a 16GB microSD card thereby bringing the total storage up to 32GB. The handset’s display on the other hand is a 4.3-inch SuperLCD panel with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its camera department features a rear 8MP shooter and a front 2MP video call and self-portrait camera.
