With Google’s acquisition of Motorola, we imagined that the manufacturer would go ahead and launch flagship smartphones running Google’s latest and greatest. Sad to say, Motorola still went on and did the unexpected and released the Motorola Droid Razr HD a couple of months back running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Google’s latest and greatest LAST YEAR. The manufacturer however assured everybody that a quick upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is in the offing for the handset.

Since its release back in September, we’ve been waiting for the news for Motorola to keep its word and give the Motorola Droid Razr HD a taste of the latest iteration of the Android mobile operating system. for those rocking the handset for their mobile weapon of choice, that wait is almost over. As it stands, Verizon has already posted the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean support documents for the Motorola Droid Razr HD on its official support site. This simply means that the rollout of the Jelly Bean refresh to the Motorola Droid Razr HD is just around the corner and could happen any day now.

With this in play, those who rock the Motorola Droid Razr HD are now advised to be on the lookout for that little notification that lets them know that the Android 4.1 update has already landed on their respective handsets. As is always the case, rollouts like this are usually staggered so there is always the off-chance that you wouldn’t get the update right away even after the rollout has already started. But come to think of it, this is a minor aggravation compared to the joy you will fell once Jelly Bean finally lands on your Motorola Droid Razr HD, yes?

Once the update has been applied to the Motorola Droid Razr HD, it will crank up the software version of the handset to 9.1.41 and bring to the handset the usual goodies and treats associated with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean such as Project Butter, Google Now, smart keyboard and improved notifications. It will also come with the usual Motorola and Verizon-specific bloatware such as the Amazon app, improved Moto Calendar, and enhanced data and voice connectivity.

No specific date has been mentioned so far as to when the update will land but be assured that it is already headed to your Motorola Droid Razr HD.

As for the Motorola Droid Razr HD, the handset’s circuitry is built around its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset under the hood. This SoC brings into play a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM working together in generating the computing power required by the handset for its snappy and lag-free performance. Storage space on the handset is pegged at 16GB but this is still expandable by using the Motorola Droid Razr HD’s microSD card slot. As for its display, the handset sports a 4.7-inch SuperAMOLED panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its camera department boasts of a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
