The most recent 4G LTE smartphones have tested the limits of manageability with their physical proportions. It seems that every smartphone manufacturer is simply trying to make a bigger phone than their competitor, while ensuring a powerful processor and big high resolution display, and slapping on a bunch of high-tech features. Kudos should be awarded Motorola Mobility, for keeping the same big 4.30 inch display size of its previous Droid Razr and Droid Razr MAXX devices while extending the physical display from edge to edge on their new Droid Razr M handset. The Razr M creation still provides 4G LTE connectivity, but is actually smaller in all dimensions than its previous sibling, the Droid Razr MAXX 4G.
The Motorola Droid Razr M is on sale now starting at 49.99.
The newest iteration in the Droid Razr line from Motorola delivers the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 operating system out-of-the-box, and arrived in the United States in early September of this year. The handset delivers simultaneous data and voice access, and is also global ready, providing support for more than 205 countries around the world. A slim and compact device, the Droid Razr M measures 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.33 inches (122.5 x 60.9 x 8.3 mm) and weighs 4.44 oz (126 g). Currently offered in black or white, the handset also delivers a pre-installed Google Chrome for Android web browser.
Surrounding the Motorola Droid Razr M 4G LTE display is an aircraft grade aluminum frame, and Corning Gorilla Glass protects against scratches and scrapes. Returning on the back of the handset is the familiar DuPont Kevlar back plate, and the water repellent nanocoating protects against splashes and spills. As mentioned above a large 4.30 inch display runs edge to edge, delivering the smallest device footprint possible. Resolution runs 540 x 960 pixels, delivered at 256 pixels per inch, with visuals rendered in more than 16 million different colors.
And it boasts nearly the same 4G-best battery performance as the Droid Razr MAXX, while still sliding in with the skinnier profile. An amazing 20.00 hours of talk time can be had from a single charge of the 2,000 mA battery on board the handset. Motorola chose a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 microchip suite to handle device operations, and it is built around a powerful dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor. A separate Adreno 225 GPU focuses exclusively on graphics processing, and the handset comes equipped with 1.0 GB of RAM system memory. 8.0 GB of data storage are built-in, and the microSD slot on board accepts cards up to 32 GB in size for storage expansion. A front facing VGA quality chat cam is on board, and the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution.
