Slim phones usually have a tendency to have more battery performance issues than thicker ones, but in this case the extended life 3,300 mA battery on the Droid Razr Maxx 4G delivers 21.5 hours of talk time or 15.0 hours of video playback from a single charge. The handset also delivers 32 GB of data storage out-of-the-box, and that is made up of a 16 GB removable microSD card which ships with the handset, as well as 16 GB of hard-wired storage that is a part of the hardware package.

The handset arrived in the United States on January 26 on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system, with the familiar splash resistant, DuPont Kevlar and aluminum chassis with protective Corning Gorilla Glass screen overlay that debuted on its skinnier twin, the Droid Razr MAXX 4G. Simultaneous voice and data access is provided, and the speeds are approximately 10 times faster than Verizon’s 3G system. The display on board the handset is a 4.30 inch Super AMOLED Advanced screen, and pixel density runs 256 pixels per inch for an overall resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. Joining the built-in 16 GB of data storage in the hardware package is a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 microchip set which centers around a dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 central processor. A graphics specific PowerVR SGX540 GPU is also on board, video out is provided by a microHDMI slot for wired access and DLNA wireless connectivity, and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board. The built-in microSD slot provides storage expansion, accepting cards up to 32 GB in size.
Integrated into the back of the slim Android smartphone is an 8.0 megapixel camcorder with built-in LED flash. An f/2.4 lens, autofocus, face detection, image stabilization and touch to focus features are present, and that rear snapper provides video capture at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080p HD) and 30 frames per second. A front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam is also on board, providing video call support. The Droid Razr MAXX 4G comes with a proprietary YouTube video player pre-installed, as well as a built-in music player which supports all major file formats.
