When the HTC Rezound 4G Android smartphone arrived in mid-November of last year on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, the handset resounded with music lovers because of the on board Beats Audio system and accompanying iBeats ear buds with in-line remote control, and the built-in microphone made hands-free voice calls simple. Video and movie watchers were visually rewarded with the high-resolution display that offers one of the highest pixel densities of any handset, and web surfers and multitaskers were more than happy with the speeds provided on Verizon’s 4G LTE network with the powerhouse dual core processor on board, as well as substantial RAM memory.
Verizon recently made the HTC Rezound 4G even more attractive to smartphone shoppers, as they lowered the retail price of the Rezound handset to $79 on contract at select retailers.
The display mentioned above delivers 342 pixels per inch and uses more than 16 million colors to render visuals. That gives the 4.30 inch Super LCD capacitive touch screen an overall resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. The integrated light sensor automatically adjusts the display for the best brightness setting depending on your surroundings, and a proximity sensor shuts the display off when you raise the handset to make or receive a voice call, thereby conserving battery life. Talk time runs 6.73 hours and standby time runs approximately 11 days on a single charge.
The multimedia package on board the HTC Rezound 4G includes a pre-installed YouTube video player and the above-mentioned full range Beats Audio system. There is also a built-in music player with a preset equalizer, and the handset has a 2.0 megapixel chat cam up front. The chat cam can record video in 1,280 x 720 pixels (720p HD) and 60 frames per second, and the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder provides video capture at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080p HD) and 30 frames per second.
HTC chose a Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon microchip package to operate the handset, and that chip suite includes a dual core 1.5 GHz Scorpion CPU and graphics dedicated Adreno 220 GPU. 1.0 GB of RAM memory is pre-installed, as is 16 GB of built-in, user accessible storage. The microSD slot also provides microSDHC support, allowing access for cards up to 32 GB. That 16 GB of built-in storage is complemented by a removable 16 GB microSD card that ships with the handset, delivering the most out-of-the-box data storage for a smartphone at 32 GB. Buy the HTC Rezound starting at $79.
