The big-screen Samsung Galaxy Note II phablet hit the vast and fast Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network in the United States late last year. Sporting a three digit price tag, the handset was instantly successful, and continues to be a top seller for the retailers who offer it. It was the first handset from Samsung to deliver the Jelly Bean operating system out-of-the-box, and the Verizon variant was recently spotted at Amazon online with a $79 on contract retail price tag.
The new lower price tag for summer in the United States is the most recent news for the Galaxy Note II, which delivers a popular Multi-Window feature. This allows you to divide your screen into two “windows” which create a split screen feature. You can fluidly multitask between the two windows, or use them independently. The phone also offers the popular smart stylus S Pen which debuted with the original Galaxy Note. The device combines support for writing, doodling and drawing with contextual awareness features.

Simply hover the tip of the S Pen above the screen and you will receive link previews, website magnification and other data. This allows you to do more with fewer clicks, and the S Pen also benefits from optional alerts. You can set the phone to visually and audibly alert you whenever the smart stylus strays a little too far from home. The handset is also excellent for business, as it is SAFE approved (Samsung Approved for Enterprise), including support for Mobile Device Management (MDM).
It delivers extensive multitasking and productivity enhancing features and IT security tools like the ability to set up Virtual Private Networks (VPN). On-device encryption (ODE) protects your sensitive business and personal information, and the phone was designed in a slim form factor, measuring just 0.37 inches (9.3 mm) in thickness. Though it is slim the screen is extremely large, measuring a full 5.55 inches. Protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2, that touchscreen on the Galaxy Note II is formatted in a 16 to 9 aspect ratio.
The True HD resolution runs 720 by 1,280 pixels, with more than 16 million colors spread across the screen at the rate of 265 pixels per inch. The Super AMOLED display also contains special light and proximity sensors which help preserve battery power. This assists the extended life 3,100 mA cell in delivering a full 15.0 hours of talk time from a full charge, and the phone is powered by a quad core 1.6 GHz Exynos CPU. 2.0 GB of RAM and 16 GB of data storage are on board, as is a microSD slot. Video capture is provided at 1,080P HD resolution with the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder.
