Samsung was probably very happy with their Galaxy handset when it was first released years ago, but they certainly could not have predicted the incredible success the future of the entire Galaxy line of smartphones would deliver. As such, the Samsung Galaxy S III 4G Android smartphone certainly had a huge reputation to live up to. It has done so admirably, selling over 50 million units and counting globally, and that Galaxy S III smartphone launched on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States on July 12, delivering high resolution video capture, a large high-resolution screen, Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out-of-the-box and Near Field Communications (NFC) support.

The Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon is on sale now starting at 149.99.

A feature that is unique to the Verizon Galaxy S III is the Color App application. Verizon’s Galaxy S III owners can shoot live video bursts up to 60 seconds in length, complete with audio, or still images, and then those pics or videos can be instantly shared with your Facebook friends. Offered in either Marble White or Pebble Blue, NFC wireless technology delivers support for such popular applications as the retail payment processing Google Wallet and data share application Android Beam. Android Beam allows you to wirelessly share data, applications, snapshots and other info with other Android Beam capable devices with a simple tap.

The GS III for Verizon also offers a Share Shot feature which sets up a temporary photo sharing network with other Galaxy S III handset owners within a Wi-Fi connectivity area that you designate. As soon as that Share Shot Wi-Fi connection is made, any photos you take are instantly shared. Out-of-the-box the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III runs the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0.4 operating system, and a software update to the brand-new Jelly Bean 4.1 OS is in the works, with no official dates promised by either Google or Verizon.

The handset is slim at 0.34 inches (8.6 mm) and weighs in at 4.70 ounces (130 g). As light and slim at the handset is, the 4.80 inch display is one of the largest found on any smartphone. The pixel density of 316 pixels per inch and overall screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels also lies at the high end of the 4G smartphone marketplace. Verizon’s GS III delivers anywhere from 12.0 to 15.0 hours of talk time from a single charge, and the Super AMOLED display is protected by a second generation of Corning Gorilla Glass 2.

A powerful 1.5 GHz dual core processor and separate Adreno 225 graphics processor are on board, and the handset is one of the first to deliver 2.0 GB grams memory. Video capture runs 1,080P HD resolution from the rear mounted 8.0 megapixel camcorder, and a VGA quality chat cam up front offers video call support. Twitter, Picasa, Facebook and YouTube have been pre-installed.

Buy the Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon now starting at 149.99.
