As of the moment, the Samsung Galaxy S III is without a doubt the hottest handset you can get your hands on in the smartphone market. This has been this way since the handset hit the shelves during the latter parts of May wherein the handset already raked in 20 million sales figure for the Korean electronics giant in just a hundred days after it made its debut in the shelves. In fact, not even the monumental victory of Apple over Samsung in their patent trial or the release of the sixth-generation iPhone 5 could dampen the interest of the smartphone-buying population on the Samsung flagship device.
However, it looks like the handset already has a competitor for the attention of those looking to get their new handsets and the competition comes from an unlikely source – from South Korea as well because the device we are referring to, the one that could give the Samsung Galaxy S III a serious run for its money is the Samsung Galaxy Note II.
Unveiled during the latter parts of August, the Samsung Galaxy Note has already been confirmed to be release by all major wireless providers in US shores. However, the info regarding the specific timeframe of its release is a bit lacking and we would have wanted to get first-hand information as to when exactly the second generation Samsung phablet will make its debut in our side of the world.
If you happen to be with Verizon and are looking to make Big Red’s variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note II to be your next mobile weapon of choice, then you are looking at a possible November 29 date for the debut of the phablet in the shelves of the carrier. This information came from a leaked internal document that shows that Big Red is all set to launch the Samsung Galaxy Note II 4G on the said date. Although the phablet can now be preordered though the website of the carrier, there is still some confusion as to when exactly the device will become available for mass consumption. After all, the website indicates a different date of November 27 for the handset to land while the internal document intimates that it will be on the 29th. Regardless, we hope that Verizon will soon come out in the open to announce pertinent details about the release of the phablet.
As for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the handset is pure power under the hood. Already running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its operating system, the second generation Samsung phablet relies on its Exynos 4412 Quad chipset to power its operations. With this SoC, the handset can rely on its quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and 2GB of RAM to come up with the computing muscle the handset requires. Storage space on the handset varies but a user can easily add more storage through the use of the device’s microSD card slot. In terms of its display, the Samsung Galaxy Note II sports a massive 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel made from Gorilla Glass and has a 1280 x 720 resolution. Its camera department on the other hand features a main 8MP shooter at its back panel while a 1.9MP video call and self-portrait camera resides in its front bezel.
