Those that have the HTC One on the Verizon Wireless network were probably getting quite excited last week when they finally got the update notification for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. This update is coming to the HTC One about one month before it is expected to see the Android 4.4 KitKat software. HTC received the announcement last week after Verizon Wireless approved the update and that is typically the last step in the process before the public gets to see the new software.
HTC claimed that the One would be getting this update back in August already and when most of the users expected to see the software by the end of September, and it was quite disappointing when the company could not make good on the promise at that time. Shortly after the release date was missed, HTC made many promises and acknowledged the fact that it failed to supply users with the software. Via Twitter, the CEO of HTC talked to users as much as possible to ensure they were on the same page when it came down to getting their devices updated in a timely manner.
Since October, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint users already had the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software downloaded and have been using it freely. Those that are subscribed to the largest and most reliable 4G LTE network in the country had to wait for the software they were told would be ready to download by the end of December. Because of the missed release date back in September, users have been leery about what HTC had to say, especially since the backtrack which has occurred back then. HTC’s Director of Product Management took to Twitter to say, “VzW HTC One Owners: We have received Technical Approval from Verizon on the 4.3 MR! We expect the OTA to start early next week! Thank You!”
The changelog for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update should be posted so users can take a look at it and see what the company is sending out with the new operating system. The update will also bring Sense 5 user interface, with Sense 5.5 will be coming along with Android 4.4 KitKat software. The HTC One is expected to be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat by the end of January.
