The Motorola Droid Razr M 4G Android smartphone arrived in early September of last year. The phone is exclusive to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the US, but can also access EV-DO, CDMA 800/1900 and Rev A 3G frequencies where 4G LTE is unavailable. Globally, the Droid Razr M 4G is capable of connecting to GSM and 3G networks in more than 205 countries around the world. The speedy 4G LTE Verizon system offers 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) speeds on the downlink, as well as 2 to 5 Mbps on uplinks in “real world”, loaded network situations according to Big Red.
That 4G LTE connectivity comes in a compact form factor, yet the handset still offers a large 4.3 inch display. The Jelly Bean 4.1 powered Droid Razr M measures 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.33 inches (122.5 x 60.9 x 8.3 mm), and weighs just 4.44 ounces (126 g). That makes it lighter and slimmer than other 4G smartphones with a 4.30 inch screen, providing a smaller form factor. That was accomplished by stretching the display from edge to edge and corner to corner on the front of the handset.
This also helps put all your focus on the display by decreasing the size of the bezel surrounding it. The Chrome for Android mobile web browser has been pre-installed, and the handset offers NFC wireless support out-of-the-box. Verizon has included their free Backup Assistant service which automatically makes a copy of your mobile contacts and stores it in your online address book. Also, the Droid Razr M 4G offers the Verizon Visual Voice Mail service which allows you to create up to 10 separate greetings based on individual callers.
That system also allows you to reply to voice mail messages, as well as delete or forward them without having to cycle through previous messages or voice instructions. The aircraft grade aluminum and Kevlar fiber body on the Droid Razr M make for a very tough phone, while the special water repellent nanocoating and Corning Gorilla Glass offer two more levels of physical protection. The Droid Razr M includes a built-in Bluetooth Stereo music player and a YouTube video player in its multimedia package.
The screen is a 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED model, with 540 x 960 pixel resolution. A generous 16 million colors are used when rendering visuals, and the built-in light and proximity sensors help conserve battery life. That stretches single charge talk time all the way up to 20.0 hours, and the handset is powered by a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU. A microSD slot enhances the built-in 8.0 GB of data storage, and the handset offers 1.0 GB of RAM memory. The Droid Razr M 4G comes equipped with a rear facing camcorder of 8.0 megapixels, recording video in 1,080P HD resolution.
