htcwp8xThe HTC Windows Phone 8X smartphone arrived on the AT&T network on November 10 of last year. Shortly thereafter, the handset made its way to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the US, where it was recently spotted at the Amazon Wireless online store with options starting at $49 in blue, and $99 in black on contract. The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system is the most pervasive of all 4G LTE networks in the US, containing more than 440 markets, more than all other wireless carriers combined.

That speedy Verizon system benefits the wireless multimedia hub capabilities of the HTC Windows Phone 8X, which can support multiple wireless devices through Wi-Fi connectivity. The HTC Windows Phone 8X is the first Windows powered handset to deliver the exclusive Beats Audio sound enhancement, which employs audio signal amplifiers in both the 3.5 mm audio jack and the handset’s speaker. The sound amplification works through all audio applications, and is present when you are listening to your favorite music, playing a game or watching a video.

Verizon has included their Data Sense feature, which allows you to better monitor and manage your data usage, helping you be more productive while conserving battery life. The handset does run on Verizon’s 4G LTE network in the US, but Big Red kept the HTC Windows Phone 8X open for global roaming access, as well as connectivity to GSM networks in the US (namely AT&T and T-Mobile). The large 4.30 inch display offers exceptional resolution at 720 x 1,280 pixels, and also delivers a high-end rate of pixel density, at 342 pixels per inch.

The S-LCD 2 screen is displayed in more than 16 million different colors, light and proximity sensors help conserve battery power, and a scratch resistant layer of Gorilla Glass 2 protects against everyday abuse. Talk time on the handset runs better than average on the Verizon network, offering nearly twice the industry average at 15.0 hours after a full battery charge. A dual core 1.5 GHz CPU joins 1.0 GB of RAM memory and 16 GB of onboard data storage in the handset’s hardware package.

The camera combo on the Verizon HTC Windows Phone 8X is exceptional, and is one of the few camera duos which has extrawide angle 80 degree lenses on both the rear and front cameras. The rear facing camcorder has an 8.0 megapixel sensor and a dedicated shutter key. That rear snapper sports an f/2.0 aperture and built-in LED flash, making for excellent low light video capture. Video is recorded at 1,080P HD resolution, and the front facing chat cam can act as a video chat camera, also offering video call support.
