The Motorola Droid Razr MAXX HD delivers a full 21.0 hours of talk time, and what Motorola claims is up to 32 hours of all-around performance available after a full battery charge. While that is substantially better than the 4G smartphone average, the new Motorola Droid MAXX just a couple of days ago hit the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States, and Motorola promises up to 48 hours run time or talk time from a single battery charge.
You can pre-order the Motorola Droid Maxx at select online retailers starting at $199.99, which is a savings of up to $100 over carrier prices. The phone is scheduled to start shipping around 8/27.
The way they deliver that is through an extended life 3,500 mA battery, which provides anywhere from 50 to 100% more capacity than the typical 4G smartphone cells currently available. But even with this huge battery, the Motorola Droid Maxx 4G boasts a slim profile. The handset measures just 0.33 inches (8.5 mm) in thickness, and retails for around $199 on contract at select retailers online. The Droid MAXX was announced at a special press event in New York City last month along with the Droid Mini and Droid Ultra.
All of those devices offer the brand-new Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System, 2.0 GB of RAM memory, an advanced 10.0 megapixel rear facing camcorder and 720P touchscreen displays. Screen size on the Motorola Droid MAXX is a huge 5.0 inches, with resolution running 720 by 1,280 pixels. The HD OLED display contains special light and proximity sensors which automate some functions which help extend battery life, and the handset can sit in standby mode for as many as 25.0 days.
The Motorola X8 system chip actually delivers a full 8 cores, with two individual cores handling language processing and contextual computing, a quad core GPU processing all graphics, and a dual core 1.7 GHz CPU. The phone also delivers a full 2.0 GB of RAM memory, as well as a generous 32 GB of built-in data storage space. The Motorola Droid MAXX offers NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity options, and can function as a central Wi-Fi hotspot for multiple wireless devices.
The upgraded 10.0 megapixel camera on the back of the Motorola Droid MAXX delivers a handy “quick capture” snapshot mode, and also offers a new ClearPixel technology. Motorola claims that this uses a RGBC color filter rather than the Bayer RGBG one used on most handsets, helping capture more light in lowlight scenarios, and effectively removing blur and noise. That rear shooter is capable of 1,080P HD resolution video recording at the rate of 60 frames per second, and a front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam is also on board. You can pre-order the Droid Maxx at a discounted price tag starting at just $199.99 at select online retailers.
