A couple of weeks ago both Verizon and Motorola stated that the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system would be rolling out in an over the air update to both their Droid Razr HD and Razr MAXX HD smartphones. As wireless carriers usually do, Verizon gave no date on the release. However, it looks like Droid Razr MAXX HD owners will have some Jelly Bean goodies in their stocking in time for the holidays. Motorola announced two days ago on their official blog that they have indeed begun rolling out the Jelly Bean 4.1 over the air transfer to the Droid Razr MAXX HD 4G Android smartphone.
Do not worry if you cannot currently see an announcement for download in your notifications. A Motorola spokesperson said the transfer would happen in stages, and that all Droid Razr MAXX HD handsets would have Jelly Bean 4.1 OS imminently. The handset was launched on October 18 on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the US, delivers the NFL Mobile application only from Verizon, and offers a large high-resolution screen, all day battery power and unique security suite.
Should your handset ever become lost or stolen, you can erase the hard drive on your Droid Razr MAXX HD from a remote computer. The handset also delivers a PIN locking system and government grade data encryption for all your sensitive, personal information. Offered in your choice of black or white with Near Field Communications (NFC) wireless support out-of-the-box, the handset is slim in comparison to other smartphones, at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm).
Droid Razr models that have come before the Droid Razr MAXX HD have delivered durable construction and superior battery performance, and those traits are back on this Droid Razr edition. The Kevlar and aluminum construction and scratch free Gorilla Glass overlay provide the handset a rugged profile, and a special nanocoating delivers splash-proof protection. And battery conservation efforts help the 3,300 mg oversized, extended life battery deliver a generous 13.0 hours of video playback or 21.0 hours of talk time from a single charge.
The display is the largest high resolution screen Motorola makes for a 4G smartphone at 4.7 inches, and pixel density runs 312 pixels per inch. Screen resolution is 720 x 1,280 pixels, and more than 16 million individual colors are used when rendering visuals. Both DLNA and microHDMI video out options are present, and the Motorola Droid Razr MAXX HD comes equipped with 1.0 GB of LP DDR2 RAM memory and 32 GB of data storage built-in. A microSD slot provides storage expansion, with the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder providing video capture at 1,080P HD resolution.
