The Droid Razr MAXX HD was launched on October 18, and is exclusive to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States. That wireless network was tested along with the Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile 4G systems in the United States by independent reviewer RootMetrics, and they found the Verizon system faster and more reliable at delivering 4G LTE speeds. The handset is offered in either black or white, and delivers government level data encryption for your e-mail, calendar and contacts, a remote hard drive wipe security feature, and personal identification number locking system.
Offering Near Field Communications (NFC) support out-of-the-box, the handset arrives with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Motorola has stated that the Droid Razr MAXX HD is the next in line to receive the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system, and the handset is slim at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm). The same DuPont Kevlar and aircraft grade aluminum body has returned from previous Droid Razr models, and the handset is waterproof inside and out.
A single battery charge provides a full 13 hours of video playback, 21 hours of talk time, 10 hours of streaming video or 27 hours of streaming music while in Verizon LTE coverage areas. The handset is also versatile, and when coupled with optional Motorola accessories transforms into a high definition multimedia hub, and in-vehicle hands-free GPS system, desktop PC or entry-level laptop. Handling device operations on the Droid Razr Maxx HD is a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor, with 1.0 GB of LP DDR2 RAM memory.
The 32 GB of data storage built in is the most offered by any smartphone, and a microSD slot allows for storage expansion. The 4.70 inch Super AMOLED screen is the largest designed by Motorola for a smartphone, and delivers a high-end pixel density of 312 pixels per inch. Resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels, and capacitive, multitouch gestures are used to navigate the handset’s menus. Light and proximity sensors are on board, and a scratch resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass protects the screen. Both DLNA and microHDMI video out options are present.
YouTube and Picasa applications have been pre-installed, as has the Chrome for Android web browser. The same camera combo from other Droid Razr handsets is present, with an 8.0 megapixel camcorder and 1.3 megapixel chat cam. That rear integrated camcorder provides video capture at 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution (1,080p HD), and the front facing chat cam can be used for video calls. The Droid Razr MAXX HD is also capable of functioning as a mobile hotspot for multiple wireless devices.
You can purchase the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD at a reduced price now starting at $149.99.
