galaxynoteiiverizonAs with most full-featured handsets, the Verizon Galaxy Note II launched with a price tag much higher than the typical smartphone. But recently, at least one online retailer has dropped the price of the Verizon Galaxy Note II, in advance of the annual release of new smartphones for the second and third quarters. The Amazon Wireless store online currently hosts the Verizon Galaxy Note II for $149 on contract. That device was the first smartphone by Samsung to deliver the Jelly Bean 4.1 Android operating system out-of-the-box, and also delivers a powerful quad core processor and smart stylus S Pen.

The Verizon Galaxy Note II also delivers a handy Multi-Window feature that splits the large 5.55 inch display into two equal pieces. This basically gives you two separate screens on which to perform operations, and you can even interact between the two. Watch a high definition video on one half of the screen, while checking your e-mail or surfing the web on the other. The Galaxy Note II also allows you to communicate through a number of tactile functions, as you can use your finger to navigate the screen, you can hover just above the screen, you can use the smart stylus to draw, write and take notes, and the handset is also voice activated.

The S Pen hover capability employs stylus proximity technology, and that technological advancement also allows you to set visual and audible alerts which inform you when your S Pen strays too far from home. The handset arrived on the Verizon network late last year, and delivers a slim profile, measuring 0.37 inches (9.3 mm). Mentioned earlier, the 5.55 inch screen is a True HD model, aligned in a 16 to 9 aspect ratio. Resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels, delivered at a rate of 265 pixels per inch.

Verizon’s 4G LTE network in the United States teams up with the oversized 3,100 mA battery on board the handset to offer a full 15.0 hours of talk time from a single battery charge. Powered by a quad core Exynos CPU clocked at 1.6 GHz, the Verizon Galaxy Note II uses a Samsung Exynos 4 (4412) chip set to handle operations. An ARM Mali 400 MP4 quad core graphics processor is on board, as is 2.0 GB of RAM memory and 16 GB of built-in data storage space.

A microSD slot has been included for offboard data access and storage expansion. Samsung has included an 8.0 megapixel camcorder on the back of the Galaxy Note II, and video capture is offered at 1,080P HD resolution. The handset also includes a front facing chat cam, a Stereo FM radio with RDS and a built-in YouTube video player. The handset delivers video out options, and NFC wireless support is offered out-of-the-box.
