Released on May 6 just in time for the 2012 Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association Wireless Expo in New Orleans, Louisiana, the HTC One X 4G Android smartphone is exclusive to the AT&T 4G LTE wireless network. That handset recently received a retail price reduction, and is currently retailing for $119 on contract at select retailers. Online video-dedicated website Videomaker recently awarded the HTC One X their Best Smartphone of CTIA 2012 award, mentioning in particular a few of the noteworthy camera attributes the handset delivers.
Videomaker pointed out that the HTC One X 4G is the first phone to hit the US to allow for simultaneous high definition 1,080P video recording with Stereo sound, while also capturing snapshots. That snapshot resolution runs 3,264 x 1,840 pixels, is captured in extra-wide mode, and is provided by the 8.0 megapixel camcorder built into the back of the handset. Ahat rear snapper also delivers an LED flash and F2.0 lens that captures 40% more light than standard F2.4 smartphone lenses. Geo tagging, autofocus and face and smile detection features are present, as are a back illuminated sensor (BSI), and high dynamic range mode (HDR). The front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam also provides video call support.
HTC engineers did a good job in keeping the One X handset thin and light, and it measures only 0.35 inches (8.9 mm) in thickness, weighing only 4.55 ounces (129 g). The 4.70 inch Super IPS LCD2 capacitive touchscreen delivers visuals in more than 16 million colors and 312 pixels per inch, and is one of the largest offered by any smartphone. That results in an overall screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, and the Corning Gorilla Glass scratch resistant display is navigated with the HTC Sense UI overlay that meshes with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system on board.
Standard light and proximity sensors are built into the handset to automatically adjust brightness and conserve battery life, and that helps deliver an above average 8.50 hours of talk time from a single charge of the 1,800 mA cell. Powering the HTC One X 4G Android smartphone is a Qualcomm MSM8960 microchip package which includes a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor and Adreno 225 GPU. 16 GB of storage are built-in, and 1.0 GB of RAM memory is on board. The Beats Audio sound system is present in the multimedia set, as is a proprietary YouTube video player and built-in music player. You can buy the HTC One X starting at $119.
