Back in the day when we yet to see the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update land on any of the smartphones in the Android ecosystem, Samsung was already on the forefront of things and immediately released its plans for the ICS development of the handsets in its stable. As early as late last year, the manufacturer already committed to getting the Samsung Galaxy S II upgraded to the latest version of the Google mobile operating system in the first quarter of this year. The manufacturer was able to follow through with this promise with the then flagship handset of the company getting its taste of ICS back in February.

This is not the case though for carrier-branded version of the handset because the carriers also have a say in terms of the development of the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the version of the Samsung Galaxy S II that it offers. This is precisely the reason why there is a delay in the rollout of the ICS update for the version of the smartphone that made it to US shores such as the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch from Sprint.

However, when you come to think of it, it was reported in the past that the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch could be the first Android-powered smartphone in US shores to get upgraded to the latest Android version. During that time, there were reports that Sprint is already in the final stages of testing the supposed Ice Cream Sandwich update for the handset which prompted such speculations.

Sad to say, this did not materialize as well all know now because the HTC Vivid 4G from AT&T got the distinction of being the first handset in US shores to get upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich when users of the handset were able to take advantage of a dialer trick in forcing the smartphone to download and install the official ICS update for the HTC Vivid 4G.

Until now, there is still no news as to when ICS will finally land on the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch but Samsung already confirmed that the Android 4.0 refresh will definitely reach the handset when it released its plans for the ICS update for its handsets that got released by US carriers.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, this is the variant of the Galaxy S II released by Sprint and is as capable as the original version of the handset. It has a Samsung Exynos chipset under the hood to power its operation. This SoC brings to the smartphone a dual-core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 1GB of RAM and Mali-400MP graphics chip to the handset. The storage space of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch is rated at 16GB and a microSD card slot in the chassis of the handset enables its user to beef up the onboard memory of the handset.

Similar to the Galaxy S II, the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch packs a SuperAMOLED Plus display that measures 4.52 inches and has a 480 x 800 resolution. Its camera department on the other hand is composed of a main 8MP shooter with Full HD 1080p video capture at its back panel while the front bezel of the handset is home to its 2mp video call camera.  Buy the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G starting at just one penny!
