As the world’s largest online retailer, Amazon also happens to be a favorite destination for smartphone shoppers. The company constantly updates their Best Selling Smartphone Top 100 list, and thanks to recent price reductions and an already globally popular reputation, the Verizon Galaxy S III in the 16 GB model and white color recently took over the number one spot there. Constantly found in the top 10 of this respected online smartphone best sellers list, the recent price reduction by Amazon on the Verizon 16 GB Galaxy S III variant certainly did not hurt the handset’s popularity in the least.
Just recently a smartphone with a three digit price tag, the 16 GB Verizon Galaxy S III is now offered by Amazon at the discount price of just $19.99 on contract. While the white version of this particular model is the handset firmly cemented in the top sales position as of this writing, the 16 GB Verizon Galaxy S III is also available in blue (number 8 on the best sellers list), black (number 5) and brown colors. That 16 GB of internal storage can be accentuated by the addition of a microSD, microSDHC or microSDXC cards up to 64 GB in size, via the on board microSD slot.
The handset hit the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system on July 12 of 2012 in the United States, and offers smartphone shoppers a slim and lightweight form factor. The Galaxy S III measures just 0.34 inches (8.6 mm) in thickness, weighing in at a light 4.70 ounces (133 g). However, that light and thin smartphone is home to one of the largest screens of any mobile handset, measuring 4.0 inches. That Super AMOLED display is protected against your everyday abuse by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2, and resolution runs high at 720 x 1,280 pixels.
Verizon’s pervasive 4G LTE network combines with the handset’s 2,100 mA battery to provide a full 15.0 hours of talk time from a full battery charge. The Verizon Galaxy S III also delivers a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder which is capable of recording snapshots while simultaneously capturing HD video. Video is recorded at 1,080P HD resolution with that rear shooter, and that camera offers a special effects package, autofocus, touch to focus and several other customizing and personalization features. Built into the front of the Galaxy S III is a chat cam with video call capabilities.
Samsung uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip which includes a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU to power the handset, and a full 2.0 GB of RAM memory is pre-installed. The handset is also available in a 32 GB model, and Facebook, YouTube, Picasa and Twitter social media applications have been added. The Verizon Galaxy S III is also capable of NFC wireless connectivity, and offers video out options.
