As consumers we all know that there are cases when products get released in the market later than expected. This creates two situations – either people get more excited about the product and gobble it up once it finally hit the shelves or they lose their interest altogether and the product heads on to oblivion. The smartphone is not an exception to this and we have seen a couple of handsets encounter delays in their launches and get released a whole lot later than expected.
Take the case of the Samsung ATIV S for example. The entry of the Korean electronics giant to the Windows Phone platform has been official for quite some time now having been the first Windows Phone 8-powered handset to become official when its manufacturer unveiled it back in August but until now, the handset is yet to make its debut in the shelves to the consternation of Windows Phone fanboys who refuse to get a Nokia or HTC handset for that matter.
This is not something new in the smartphone competition with us having experienced delays in the release of handsets every once in a while. While others may think of our fuss about the handset’s “no-show” until now as a sort of an overreaction, you have to take a look at big picture to get a grip on what causes all the fuss about the handset.
First off, the Samsung ATIV S is the first Windows Phone handset to come with 4.8 inches of screen real estate. It is also a premium product that is expected to deliver a Windows Phone experience to those who would care to wait around for its debut in the shelves. It is also the first Windows Phone 8-powered smartphone from Samsung and we all know how brimming to the edges with features high-end devices from the Korean electronics giant are and you just have to take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S III and the Samsung Galaxy Note II to know what we are talking about.
And its later arrival to the market has gotten the Samsung ATIV S more than its fair share of digital ink these past couple of days. We all know how capable the handset is. We all know that it combines attractive aesthetics with beastly components under the hood. What we want to know right now though is it was worth the wait. That remains to be seen and we have to wait for our chance to get our hands on the handset to get a definitive answer.
As for the Samsung ATIV S, the handset is said to be based on the platform of the Samsung Galaxy S III sharing most of its hardware DNA with the OEM’s Android flagship device. The handset comes with a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset in its internals with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM for a flawless performance. It is said to be available in 16GB or 32GB in terms of storage space with support for memory expansion through its microSD card slot. It has a 4.8-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution and its camera department boasts of a rear 8Mp shooter and a front 1.9MP snapper. And yes, on paper, it looks like the Samsung ATIV S will be worth the wait.
